FINGERBOARD AT UNION
Yes, our very first fingerboard meet-up. I won’t lie as a 32-year-old shop owner, I played with Tech decks back in my youth and was pretty good. Over the years finger boarding has crept into the scene and I have always had people bringing good ones into the shop. So I eventually got one myself when we opened up in 2015. It is such a distracting toy that I can’t leave a personal one in the shop or I won’t get anything done!
There seem to be a ton of fingerboarders around the area, including a good bit of my friends in our shop scene. So I would like to welcome this part of the community into our store and potentially have a communal store of skateboarding and fingerboard needs and desires. I want to keep our first event as simple as possible and see where it goes from here, It can be a sensitive thing to add elements outside of true skateboarding into a core shop. I think we could be a shop that breaks the ice organically and keep things pure as usual.
We will also be offering contests to enter, raffles, and prizes for everything. Plus in-store specials are to be announced for gear in the shop. We will have spots provided by our sponsors MAUVE and GUNK also other fingerboarders for the event including the local replica of the Bellevue skate plaza! Special shout out to @pgh.fb for providing the plaza seen below.
We hope to see you there.
